Really bad knee pain?!

Question: hi,

I have sufferd from knee pain in my right knee for a long time, and have done nothing about it since i started my new job which i stand all day long, and tha pain is getting worse.

Its wierd when i run upstairs, like it feels like my knee comes out of place and hurts so much, i have to take it slow when i walk upstairs now, as it really hurts when this knee pain comes.

I stand all day at work, and i get ache-in pains, and some times really sharpe pains. really hurts!

If i press at the inner side of my knee, it feels briused like theres a briuse there, but i cant see anything, and theres no swelling.

But when i get a pain like im standing its not just on the side its all over but not at the back, its the front of my knees.

Please help!

Im not over wieght and im only 18! actully turned 18 in november!

And some more information, i used to play football about 4 years ago, but it didnt hurt that much as it does now.

I have tryed every painkiller, and brace !

Go to an orthopedic doctor and get x-rayed. You could need arthroscopic surgery or other knee repairs. Stop pain killers as they can cause damage to the stomach and/or organs over time.

Osgood Sclatter Disease:
Causes
The condition is caused by stress on the tendon that attaches the muscle at the front of the thigh to the tibia. It occurs when, following an adolescent growth spurt, stress from contraction of the quadriceps is transmitted through the patellar tendon to the not yet fully-developed tibial tuberosity. This can cause inflammation and avulsion fracture, and eventually results in bone growth in the tendon, producing a visible lump.

Symptoms
Pain and swelling directly over the tibial tubercle is most common. Point tenderness is noted on examination.

Pain is aggravated by loaded knee extension activity, especially activity with power or impact characteristics. Symptoms may occur with simple activity of daily living (ADLs) such as walking and stairs.

The symptoms usually resolve with treatment but may recur as a new episodes until skeletal maturity, when the tibial epiphysis fuses.

Treatment
Treatment should be conservative and expectant with focus on symptom management - reduce activity to a level that is genuinely comfortable, not simply tolerable.

Bracing for support and protection may be helpful or necessary to reduce activity to this "comfortable" level. Ice and simple medications (Tylenol, Advil or Aleve) are helpful to control inflammation and pain.

Parents should be reassured of the self-limited, non-progressive nature of the condition.

After symptoms are resolved, then gradual progression back to desired activity may begin. The general time course for symptom resolution is usually 3-6 weeks.

In addition, predisposing factors should be evaluated and addressed. Commonly quadriceps and/or hamstring tightness is present and should be addressed with stretching exercises. Also training factor such as intensity and repetition, should be evaluated and addressed.

you need to get an mri. the mri will show your ligaments and meniscus to see if you have any tears
