Hello Hunny:

I once was working with chili peppers and foolishly rubbed my eye. I was miserable for 1/2 hour, until I poured milk in my eye. I think the lactic acid neutralizes the oil and washes it away. Water will only irritate the burning, as it does not remove the oil; it only pushes it around.

I think this is why they put sour cream on spicy foods; to help cut the hot oil.

Good luck!

If it still hurts, it means there are still traces of spices remaining. Turn your face sideways, and position your affected eye under cool, or warm running water under the kitchen sink. If the spout is too short, take a mug (or any canister), fill it with water, and continue flushing your eyes out until the burning sensation ceases.

grab a hot dog.

Put your head into the sink and use the sprayer nozzle and spray your eye for atleast 15-20 minutes.
