honestly even if you broke it (very well you could have just displaced it) that they do nothing for you. i have a toe broken in half they gave me pain pills which if you take advil or aleve has an antiinflammatory (for swelling) in them and take the proper dosage for your age. put some ice on it and elevate it. in a couple days it wont hurt broken or not.... they do nothing for your toes any more. and i was told even with my big toe literally being in half unless it was affecting the way i walk that they wouldnt put a pin in it.. still broken.... only hurts when its super cold outside the weather affects it... guess its not a big deal to them ? just a waste of money to go to the dr and hospital when there are things you can do at home for it....

These are things you can do at home to help decrease the pain and swelling and to help your fracture heal properly.

Elevation
Swelling that occurs after the injury worsens pain.
To decrease the swelling (and the pain), you should keep your foot raised above the level of your heart as much as possible.
You can prop it up on some pillows, especially when sleeping. Or recline in a lounge chair.
Ice
Put ice in a plastic bag and apply it to the injury for 15-20 minutes every 1-2 hours for the first 1-2 days.
Make sure to place a towel between your skin and the bag of ice to protect the skin.
Rest
You should avoid any strenuous exercise, prolonged standing, or walking.
You may even need crutches or a special shoe to wear when you walk to avoid putting weight on the fracture while it heals.
WHEN TO CALL THE DOCTOR Section 6 of 13

You should look at the injured toe every day.

Call your doctor if you have any of the following:

Worsening or new pain not relieved by the pain medication that your doctor prescribed
Any sores, redness, or open wounds near the injured toe
If you have a cast or splint that is damaged or broken

It is possible that it is broken but only an x-ray will be able to tell for sure ... buddy tape the toe and see a doctor ...

The only way to tell is through an x-ray. Your little toe will probably swell, and you might even get some bruising. If its still painful to walk on after 2 or 3 days, then you should see a doctor. In the meantime you should put some ice on it, but for no longer than 20 minutes at a time, and if its really painful, take some pain relief.

most likely a sprain, sounds as if you are hiding anger issues though
