Migraine going on day 14 now...?!

Question: Ok - I've had the same migraine for 14 days now. I've tried all the meds that I can get my hands on (Tylenol, Excedrin, vicodin, Percocet, Tylenol migraine, Excedrin migraine), I've gone to the dr twice and one time they gave me steroids that didn't work, the next they gave me a shot and then meds with caffeine and something else in them. Yesterday it actually got worse and so they gave me a script for vicodin and a suppository that is supposed to help with headaches. Still nothing... I've tried lying in a dark room with no noise or lights, massage, meditation, pretty much everything. What else can I do???? Help please...

Firstly i would stop taking all that crap what they give you.
They are giving you caffeine pills, which doesnt help headaches, in fact they probably cause them because they mess with your blood vessels.

I would drink lots of water to flush all that crap what they gave you out. It is most probably something in your diet causing it. Sugars, caffeine. Hard to say without knowing what your diet is like. Remember everything that goes into your stomach gets into your blood stream which in effect has an effect on your system.

Who is this Dr, he needs to be banned from his practice.
If you could tell me what you have been eating over the past few weeks that might help. Also the menstrual thing would have to be taken into consideration, which me being a guy am not familiar with.

I would consult an Holistic Dr, not one that is going to load you up on drugs because he does not know what the heck he is doing. Hope this helps at least a little.

Drink some fresh fruit juices, not from concentrate, must be fresh. Drink these for a few days.

try the medicine "motrin"

how about get an mri of your head, there may be something in there that shouldn't be there

also another word of advice the doctors prescribe all these pain killers and don't tell you how to handle them.

the heavy drugs could be causing dehydration and causing other issues, and keeping you headache with you

go to the doctor it may be more serious then a migraine. good luck and be blessed.

NONE of those medications worked for me. The only thing that worked for me is IMITREX. There is a spray, injection and tablet form available.

first off, drink a big glass of water. then go take a long hot bath (keep the lights off if you want). i would take more excedrin migraine (2). its the only thing that EVER works for me. also, have a small amount of coke or pepsi, like 1/2 cup. caffiene does help. and also maybe a little protein. my mom also tells me that cheese should help a little.

do you usually have migraines? or is this the first? if its worse than usual, you might want to get a scan to make sure it isnt something like a clot

are you going to your regular doctor or to the emergency room? i'd try going to the emergency room, the doctors there might have different ideas or at least do a cat scan or mri of your head to be sure there isn't something else going on in there. you need to tell them that you've been in pain for this long. i don't think a normal migraine would last 2 weeks! that stinks. good luck, i hope you feel better soon.

something else may be going on. My bro in-law had one of those headaches and they found a brain tumor. find a neurologist.

Go to a different doctor honey. If it is this bad you need a second opinion. My brother has migraines and they gave him a prescription of Imitrex and that works well. It's a nasal spray

You need a neurologist.

Try pinching the flesh between your thumb and forefinger on your left hand with the thumb and forefinger of your right hand and massaging it. It has greatly helped me, I am a chronic sufferer of migraines. Head On (apply directly to the forehead) is pretty good. And, try to get your hands on some trazadone. It will knock you flat out, you will sleep for a good 18 hours, wake up, eat, drink, take another one. If the pain doesn't subside by then, I suggest you go see a nuerologist, because it could be serious.

AND, sounds odd, but I have had botox injections too. they helped allot.

Put an Ice pack on the back of your neck. It constricts the arteries and should stop the pulsing you feel.

A hot DAMP towel (40 seconds in the microwave) on your face or the back of your neck should also help.

Mine always worked well with heat. But cold works for some people.

Get your hormone levels checked, they are frequently hormone based.

go to the ER! this happened to me about three weeks ago. They should be able to give you a shot of some better medicine (fenagrine, morphine) and provide you with a real quite dark room. If they tell you that you are getting a 'rebound headache' tell them to put that where the sun doesn't shine! Also you may need a head CT. That's what they did to me and then they gave me some medicine that knocked me out for about 18 hours. It wasn't completely gone when I woke up but it was about 75% better and went away by then end of the next day. Hope this helps!

I would go to a different Dr. You might have something really wrong with you. Migraines happen. I get them. But they should never last more than 12 hrs, and be constant.

well doctors will always give you prescription... i used to have headaches all the time not 14 days long but had headaches maybe twice a week... I started taking vitamins and my headaches had gotten better you should try taking vitamins..since you have such a bad headache you should take niacin...the pill will give you a little redness and will itch but thats b/c its working..take niacin for a while you can start with half the pill...then you should take daily fitness..

you can order right through the website..it worked for me..doesnt hurt to give it a try...

A friend of mine said he used to sip water with five minute breaks and it worked.Nothing like trying it out

Someone I work with goes to a chiropractor on a regular basis. There is a bone in the neck? that causes her extreme migraines.

my mother gets headaches also and she says to tell your doctor to prescribe tramadol she uses those for headaches..half of vicodin and half of tramodal works good..but check with your doctor first.....
