Would you rather have...?!

Question: A doctor who's very personable and likeable but finished near the bottom of his med class or a doctor who isn't very sociable and comes off as rude, detached, etc., but who finished at the top of his class and is very knowledgeable and skilled? Please also tell me why? Just curious...

I'll take the outgoing one...even those at the bottom of the class had to be smart to get in and get through it...someone always has to be on the bottom. Plus, it's always better to deal with someone you like and trust enough to share your issues with. If the doc is rude, you'll be less likely to ask questions if you are afraid he'll think they're stupid...

I would definitely pick one that is strict and straight up with me. Sure he might not be social but its also a sign that he is serious about his job and thats the only thing on his mind.

I have had both! I had a Doc who was a distant Cousin and while his knowledge on Rheumatoid Arthritis was zero he supported me 100% and saved my life by his persistence by getting me admitted to Hospital, as I camped out in Out-Patients. Now I have a Doc who is, or thinks he is the BEST! The problem being he really does not know what he is dealing with but thinks he does, if that makes sense? He has stopped the 3 monthly blood tests which the former Doc insisted on having to monitor the disease and so six months down the line I could be anemic, have a extremely high rheumatoid factor, high ESR which could cause my heart to stop beating and he would not know! Whereas my previous Doc would know and would have plans. The new kid has no plans, does not know this body and how fast it can go downhill. So we wait for it to go 'Blip' and Pray the new Doc has something up his sleeve. That is why they state 'Doctors differ and Patients die!'
