I need to quit smoking,, but not sure if I'm ready to do it now. what should!

Question: If you are not ready it is not the time to quit. You need to be fully committed to quitting smoking. It is hard enough when you really want it. Set you mind to the fact that this is really what you want to do and you will be successful. Good Luck!

just quit... smoking kills.

Just wait... You can only quit when YOUR ready to quit
Dr.Phill Hes the best!

do what you have to.. If your not sure don't quit.. there are TONS of help lines out there for ya.. But i'm still smoking and i don't plan on quiting.. so take it for what it's worth.

If you aren't "sure" you're ready, then you're not. As a previous smoker (for 18 years) I would recommend these things:

1. Be sure you really want to quit before you do
2. Talk to your doctor about getting some medication to help - either patches or some of the drugs out there like Chantrix or Wellbutrin
3. Go to "Quitnet.com" - it's a really good website for those trying to stop
3. Set a date to quit
4. NEVER EVER pick up a cigarette after you quit. That "just one" will start you right back smoking.

Good luck. It is difficult at first, but after 1 month you will be thankful you quit. I've been quit one year now and am SO HAPPY I don't have that to restrict my life. It really does restrict you.

Basically, until you make up your mind that you are READY to quit, you won't. You have to want it to make it happen.

i am quitting on tuesday, as is my hubby and our best friends. i am not sure if i can do it, but i am going to try hard. having support should make it easier. we are all using the patch. the best you can do is try your best. find things to do with your hands, like coloring, and maybe a straw to chew on, gum to chew.
good luck to both of us

just throw them out and be done with it! my mom did that in august after smoking for 30 years. for the first week i thought she was going crazy, it was really hard but once she made it past the 1st week, she didn't want it either.
she sais she can breathe better and smell better even her food taste better. it has been almost 6 months and she is still staying strong! you can do it, just be positive and if you cheat..go right back to not smoking! goodluck! i wish you much success!

you're in a place with a whole lot of other people...they say they're trying to quit, but they're not really ready to...so they don't...it's a really difficult habit to give up and you probably will not quit if you're not sure about it...unless you're ready to give 100%, then keep smoking and dont worry about it...

You will not be able to quit until you actually want to and are ready to. I'm a social smoker, but when someone tells me i should quit, i know i can, but i choose not to. If you enjoy smoking, quitting is going to be next to impossible. Wait until you want to quit smoking, than it should be easier.

If you're single, fall for someone who can't stand being around smokers b/c they smell like dirty ashtrays. I know some nice people who smell like ashtrays and I don't see them much for that reason only. I would never date someone who smoked (or chewed). Your hair, your breath, your clothes, your house and car, your skin--it comes out of your pores. It's incredibly gross to us non-smokers; and I didn't even mention having to breathe second-hand smoke, which most smokers are considerate about. Or all the money you're giving to an evil industry that you could be saving or spending on good stuff!
