How do you stop back pains without the use of drugs/pain killers?!

Question: Heat pads, stretching, massage, and physical therapy helped me.

Answers: Heat pads, stretching, massage, and physical therapy helped me.

I enjoy chiropactic adjustments.

Try an ice pack wrapped in a towel. Works for me.

turn you shower on and set the water to warm... also, you can wet a rag with warm water and put it into a microwave for about 30 secs to a minute.. and lay on your stomach and place the rag where it hurts..

you should start some core stability exercises...i m sure you can yahoo search or google that and it will come up...unfortunately you will probably experience a little more pain before it actually gets better...but back pain is really not something to take lightly..you should probably get it checked out before you do too much

You can do exercises and your posture, especially when sitting, is important.

try stretching more often. lie on your back and cross one leg over the other and vice versa. do that several times. try looking at some basic yoga positions too. that should loosen your back muscles up quite a bit..

It all depends on what is causing the back pain. Get checked out by your doctor.

Depends what is causing them. If they are due to pinched nerves then you might want to look at acupuncture or chiropractic solutions, if they are the common muscular spasm types then you can use heat--like when you shower and maybe some over the counter naproxyn sodium (Aleve) to quell the inflammation.

I was icy hot and it is in a stick form or gel form and just rub on and it works i know some people also use bengay it just for sore muscle and it is a rub on no drugs or pain dont have to swallow it or drink it. hoped i helped a little

Stay away from the chiropractors unless a MD sends you. One caused me to have 2 surgeries and be disabled partly due to his "adjustments"

if it is lower back pain ur talking about, they may be brought about by stress... just take a rest.

Homiopathic proceedurs

Heat pads and hot baths/showers feel good but cause swelling of the discs, so killer pain comes later.

Ice reduces the swelling and allows for realignment of the discs for reduced pain.

When things are in alignment, exercise (both stretching and strengthening) keep things where they belong, keeps muscle tone, and makes you feel great.

Hi Mrs Wolf

It all depends on whether you want to stop the pains and then allow them to come back or to stop them permanently.

If you want just the pain gone and don't care if it comes back, then ice, heat, stretches etc will do it. You just need to find the ones that work best for you.

If you want it gone and not return then you need to address all the factors causing your back pain - tight muscles, weak muscles and joints not moving correctly.

All of these can be done at home and can stop your pain within a few days to a week. The beauty is that it then doesn't come back if you train your body to stay well - no gym stuff though, just a few minutes of techniques each day while watching TV, and you stay pain free forever.

These techniques are simple, highly effective and you can sample some for free at the link below. I teach these to my patients to remove their back pain as a lot of my patients cannot get to town for treatment. So I teach them ways to eliminate their back pain.

So feel free to try them and email me for advice or any help you need.

All the best
Dr Graeme Teague

you can try massaging it or acupuncture it might take a while to feel the difference but it really works lol
it really depends on the situation ask your doctor what might be causing your back pain

good luck!

You can get an icepack and wrap in a towel or get a wash cloth soak in water heat for 30 seconds in microwave and apply to back.

Chiropracter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stretch. Get up and walk around every so often.

ask someone to press ur back

exercise such as streching daily can help loosen and strenghing your back. I had a siatic nerve issue when i was pregant and a lady told me to take some cooked rice and stuff it in a plastic glove, heat up in microwave, wrap with a towel and use as a heating pad. I still use the method.it feels like a hot hand on your back but becareful it gets hot and stays hot.

situps or crunches to strengthen your back and stretching does wonders... just look at your feet and reach for your toes... dont push too hard and hold for a few seconds
