I've been mildly electrocuted.?!

Question: So I went to go plug in the rice cooker while having wet fingers and I was mildy electrocuted, should I be concerned? It freaked me out and I still feel the tingle. Will this affect me somehow later on?

you werent electrocuted, you were shocked. electrocution means you died. The term is often used incorrectly to refer to a non-fatal event of electric shock.

you'll be fine tho. dont worry. i've done it PLENTY of times. as does my fiance who's an electrictian and has pounded the term into my head now...

No, you'll be okay. You just might feel the tingle for a few hours.

No, you will be just fine. Don't worry. There will be no lasting effect.

My advice is to immediatly see a docter, even a mild electrocution can cause internal injury to your nerves and has even been found to harm the brain's funtions in rare cases, don't wait until it's too late...go today! Have a good day and hope your problem isn't serious! :)

id get it checked out by a doctor...chances are if your still alive your fine :D...but better to be safe than sorry right?

no you should be fine. its just mild, its not that serious.

If it still hurts like a couple hours afterwards go get it checked out.

it goes away after ahwile, The voltage causes your muscles to contract, it will go away, and you will be fine. I have gotten zapped Many times by high voltage. Just make sure you dont mix electricity with water anymore.

You received an electric shock (electrocuted means you were killed).

The path of current, length of contact, and amount of current determine injury. If it was severe, you would have burns on your fingers. Odds are the path was in one finer and out anouther (a complete circuit). You'll be fine.

First of all - for everyone's info - electrocuted means you are DEAD.
You were shocked - ouch.
You are likely NOT damaged.
It is POSSIBLE you damaged something but not likely. You can acutally die from just a few milliamps but it doesn't usually happen. If you touched something "live" or having elctricity running through it - and it went in your finger and through your heart/chest and out the other arm and fingers, you MAY need to be checked out. You should have a GFCI type receptacle within 1m of ANY WATER for this exact reason. New houses MUST have GFCI receptacles anywhere near water and a similar Arc-fault type receptacle in bedrooms. For your - and anyone reading this - safety you should have GFCI receptacles OR a GFCI breaker installed for any receptacles near water or in the kitchen/bathroom etc.

You suffered a mild shock - electrocution results in death. You'll be fine. Just be very careful with electricity and water. Your kitchen outlets SHOULD be have a GROUND FAULT INTERRUPT what should have killed the power before you even felt the tingle. If your kitchen (and bathroom) outlets are NOT on a "GFI" circuit, you should consult an electrician and get them fixed (it's required code now) or upgraded. It's not that expensive. And it keeps 'shocking' things like you experienced from happening.

Electrocution stops the heart, so since you've survived, I'll bet you were just shocked.
You aren't really hurt in a lasting way, but you'll prolly notice it'll affect you later on.
In the future you'll be a little more aware of electricity, a little more careful of it's bite. So, this little zinger might work to save you from a really bad electrification.

So useful and widely available, electricity should be respected as a wild thing, tamed by man.

That's scary, isn't it?! I have done that.

If you feel okay now, I wouldn't worry about it. Lots of people are saying to see a doctor no matter what, but I would wait to see if the tingling persists.
