Is it true that immunizations cause autism?!
Question: Is it just a myth or is it true? I looked on the news pages and they say it is not true. But I am worried because my son is going to school this comming year and I have not got his shots yet. But now I am afraid to. If you know please tell me. Thanks for your help.

Big Myth, and a dangerous myth, too.
Many studies have looked for a link between immunizations and autism and NO evidence has been found to support that claim.
So get your son immunized! It won't make him autistic and will prevent him from getting a serious illness. In Britain, a lot of people got scared and stopped immuzing their kids. The result - one of the worst outbreaks of measles in years.

Myth based on misinterpreted facts. Children show obvious signs of autism at about the age they get the shots, but childern have autism since birth. Also if it wer the shots, why aren't children behaving more like "mad hatters" instead of autistic? The symptoms don't add up to murcury poisoning.
No. Please get him his shots. He is much more likely to be harmed by the deseases he would have been immunized for.

There is a LOT of controversy surrounding immunizations, many of it is blown off by mainstream media. I am not suggesting you don't get your child immunized, but you really should look into it first just to make sure you don't make a decision you'll regret. Try looking up "Vaccine Nation" on google video/youtube. It's a documentary about all the history of vaccinations and is very informative.

I am 49 and have never been immunized, never. However, I cannot travel abroad. I cannot socialize. I cannot attend Mass. In fact I am a prisoner in my own home. If one of my cousins has a infection, I cannot visit. Likewise, we have various disease making a come back now, TB being one and I am at high risk. So while you are making decisions for your Son, one day he is going to find out! Then when he realizes say at 20 and a life time opportunity to work in India arrives, but he cannot go because he has never been immunized, I hope you are willing to step up to the plate and explain why YOU decided not to have him immunized and why this life time opportunity will now be lost to him.
