Toenail fell off partially. Rip it off?!

Question: My boyfriend's toenail is only attached on one side. Should he peel the whole nail off, or try to keep the nail attached?

Don't even try to clip it. Use a small bit of bandage and tape it with medical tape. If you have neither, use enough band-aids to hold the nail in place. It'll grow out or fall off. Whatever happens let it happen on its own.

Ripping it off can cause it to bleed if he is not careful
What I do sometimes is keep a bandaid over it so it isn't catching on things or clip it back to the point right before it is attached. It will eventually grow out or fall off.

i would cut it as close as possible,,, then bandage
so it doesn't get ripped off..... pain pain pain.
and blood......

Eww, leave it on till it actually comes off... peeling it off can protrusively cause it to bleed more.

The other guy has it right, keep it covered with a bandaid. I've lost a few nails, keep trimming it down, and it will hurt, keeping the ramaining portion of nail on. You can damage the nail bed, making the nail stop growing or grow in wavy if you pull on the nail. Of course, the injury could have already caused that to happen. Just wait for it to grow out, it takes a long time!
