Cat Bite? Needs attention?!

Question: My cat bit me 3 times yesterday. It was sitting on my lap and sometimes likes to move up to my computer monitor if I'm moving around too much. Only problem, I switched to a flat screen monitor. She flew over the top of it and knocked it over. I yelled at her which I think scared her. She reared back and started growling and spitting. I was frozen in place. She bit me not so hard - grazed my leg. I started screaming because I was so scared and thought this would scare her off. She just continued to be in attack mode and bit me twice more until my mom came and scared her off. My cat has been startled and bit me before. I wasn't worried because she's an indoor cat, has her shots. But the one bite was pretty bad. I washed it with peroxide because I was panicy and couldn't find the instructions in the first aid book. My parents acted like it was no big deal and weren't being cooperative at all. I guess I was sposed to wash it off with water to wash off saliva. Now I'm worried about it

Ask your mom if your tetanus shot is up-to-date, this is the important 1st step. If she is not sure, err on the side of caution and get another one. 2nd, when you get an animal bite the best way to clean the wound is with soap and water, thoroughly wash the wound for 10 minutes. This process will help get rid of the bacteria that was left in your skin from the bite. 3rd, keep a close eye on the wound, if you notice any swelling, puffiness, oozing of liquids or pain in your joints near the wound, contact your Dr. immediately.
In the mean time, keep the wound clean with soap and water. You seem to have everything under control and are being vigilant, so at this stage don't be worried. I'll post a link for you to read from web MD to reassure you.

well im not sure ... but you should go to the doctor !
good luck !!!

Holy crap.. My cat bit my hand but went to bite the dog never meant to bite me.. But it seems like your cat meant to bite you. You should never be a target. Sure my cat was upset before went to bite and just nibbled and licked me instead. I did have to get my hand cut open the time she did mean to bite the dog.. Hurt pretty bad.. I would say if her fangs were in get it checked. I had a bad infection, but then again it was my hand so it's more serious there.

--- If it swells up or has a red ring around it, this is an infection.. see your Primary doctor asap.

also, if a bird is bitten by a cat, it has to be treated within 24 hours or it will die. So, evidently, cat bites can do damage. If you are worried, see a doctor.

If your skin was not broken, then don't worry about it.

If your skin was broken, then rinse with clear water and put a band-aid on it. If it becomes inflamed and painful in the next few days, then go see a doctor.

Most important: don't panic. Humans have what is called an "Immune System", and the chance that your household pet is carrying any diseases is remote in the extreme.
.

go to an urgent care or ER for antibiotic treatment.
