I used to have extremely painful cramps related to endometriosis (I had a hysterectomy so I don't anymore) but when they were really bad, I took a heavy bath towel, ran the water in the tub as hot as it would go, steaming hot, and run enough over the towel to make it just damp not wet all the way through, and put it on my abdomen. An old fashioned water bottle is great but I haven't seen one in years. Some kind of moist heat on my stomach was the only way I could survive. Also people make fun of us girls for chocolate cravings but it really does have a chemical called magnesium in it that helps. The darker chocolate the better. If you can't afford to veg out on the couch the new backache heat patches are a great option. If you put one on your abdomen it relaxes the muscles causing the cramps the same way it would for a backache, and no one can tell its there. Stay away from aspirin for pain as it will cause you to bleed heavier thus increasing the cramps. .
Hope this helps. You do have my sympathy!!!

Eating steak, spinach, and drinking milk on a regular basis also helps. I take Motrin for my cramps and they seem to help. You can also ask your doctor if he could proscribe you a stronger pain reliever such as motrin 600 or 800, or naphroxen. Report It

  • Next time take Aleve or Motrin instead of advil they work better. If you have a heating pad you can put that on your stomach to also relieve the pain. (they also make heating pads for menstral periods you can purchase at Rite Aide,Walmart etc)

heating pad, soak in a hot bath, try to exercise and get some sleep!

one of the best things to do for cramps is to lay on your stomach, with a pillow stuffed under it that will usually ease the symptoms, always drink plenty of water.

Try to take a steaming hot bath and get some rest it helps my sore thoart and cramps. When I'm sick I take alot of hot baths.
