I stepped on a piece of glass yesterday. Okay, well a couple of weeks ago i brok!

Question: it was one of those long mirrors and only half of it broke, and I've still kinda been using it, but if I move it glass falls of. Well yesterday I walked into my room, and all the sudden an excrutiating pain shot from the side of my foot into my big toe. Well I was in a alot of pain for a few minutes and it was bleeding, but then in noticed my toe felt numb. I put a bandaid and neosporin on it and my mom said I was just being dramatic. It felt like my toe and the area from where the glass entered up to where my toe is was asleep, except I didn't have the tingling (pins & needles) sensation just the numbness. Well I figured it would go away but i went to several Superbowl Parties and it didn't go away. I can only walk if I limp and don't put presure on the inner part of my foot and it isn't painful unless I walk on it, or I touch the cut. It hurts slightly around the cut but the weird thing is that it still feels numb and it happened yesterday around 2. What should I do, and whats wrong?

It sounds like you may have cut a nerve within your foot. The nerve will heal on its own most likely, since it is still tender to touch. Give it time to heal, and you will be ok. Make sure all the glass is out of your foot as this can lead to an infection if it is not. Keep it bandaged with antibiotic creams and you will be fine. If you do not regain feeling, you could have surgery to reattach any nerves, if the nerves still react. Personally, it is just a toe, and I wouldn't go through all that. You need to try and walk normal on the foot, if possible.

We're not doctors here, go to one.

If you're up to date on your tetnas shots, you'll be alright.
Keep the wound clean, if you think there could be glass in your foot or if the numbness doesn't go away for a few days, then see a doctor.

its probably just abit tender and thats y it still hurts..if it hurts for more than a week go see a doctor..i'm no doc but u might have nerve damages (not sure if there are nerve endings in your toes tho)

ok ...did you check to see if there is a chunk of glass still in there?? that would be the first thing I did, and stop walking on the foot, and take that mirror out of your room

Perhaps you damaged a nerve in your toe. Go to the doctor if it continues to bother you. I don't think there is much a doctor can do, but it might make you feel better to hear that from a professional.

You need to go to a doctor. It sounds like you might have severed a nerve. If you don't want to see a doctor, keep it clean and covered, and keep an eye on it. Go to a doctor if there are any signs of infection.

There still might be glass in the cut. If this happened to me I would soak it in salty water to pull out any remaining glass. You may want to visit a doctor.

Good luck!!

You could very well have a sliver of glass still in your foot...sometimes even a small sliver can cause a lot of pain..
If this doesn't clear up today on it's own, I would see your Dr.
Leaving a foreign object under the skin can cause infection..
Better safe than sorry is my moto..if you were my daughter, I would have your foot looked at anyway...better to have it looked at and be nothing, than to DO nothing and it be something....
And PS- GET RID OF THAT MIRROR...today!!!! If that glass were hot coals, would you leave them lying around to step on them again???? Of course not!

the glass might still be in it
