REALLY bad torticollis!?!

Question: I slept in a bad position and my neck is killing me. I'm using a foamy neck brace, but it hurts like hell. My neck and shoulder muscles feel tight and uncomfortable in every position possible. What should i do? I know it will go away on it's own, but what can i do to speed up recovery and numb pain?

I use to get this for a while and I think it had something to do with going to the chiropractor. Since I haven't gone in 2 years, I haven't gotten it.
Anyways, to help relieve the pain, moist heat helps out. Walgreens has the neck moist heat pads that you warm up in the microwave. Aleve or Motrin will help numb the pain, and any of the numbing creams like icy hot, tiger balm, ect. Another thing that always worked great for me is putting 2 tennis balls in a sock and lying on the floor with them behind where the muscles are tight, it helps to loosen up the tightened muscles.

With acute adult torticollis, best you can do on your own is to take a nice long hot bath for 60 minutes to soak all your back and neck muscles. Otherwise, the next step I would recommend is to see a chiropractor.

try taking a real warm bath and soaking in it for about 20 minutes.Do you have someone that can massage it? I know that would help alot.Hope it gets back to normal soon.
