Help loosing weight after surgery!!?!

Question: I had my 3rd child 6'07, went back to the gym for about 2 hours everyday and was doing GREAT! I had emergency lower back surgery 11'07, and since gained 60 pounds. I still have a lot of pain and spasms, cannot walk very well and it's difficult to accomplish simple daily tasks. I felt incredible when I was working out, and now I can't. Of course the weight makes the pain worse. The doctor says to loose weight, but isn't that a double standard?? I can't go to the gym because of the pain! How am I going to loose the weight when I can't workout or even walk properly? I so badly want to loose this weight. I eat healthy (as much as possible). My neurosurgeon took me off of spasm medication, and tells me it will take time. I'm SO frustrated! I have herniated L4-5, L5-S1, OA and scarred tissue. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you.

Welcome to the club of Chronic Pain and gaining weight, sadly. It's a very slow process...depending on your age, too! When I was in my thirties, honestly , it was much easier for me to lose weight, than now that i"m in my forties..but persevere on watching what you're eating! Drink alot of water..cut back on the Pop/soda, sugar, white bread, flours, starch's, etc..it will slowly come off..but yes, it IS a double standard for those of us in Chronic Pain!! I don't meet too many of us who haven't gained weight after being Pain Patients for awhile! Keep your chin up and seek out some Support groups online, as well..it does help, alot!!
