What should i do...wrist cutting?!

Question: i cut my wrist once about 2 weeks ago, nothing deep or near the veins. but after it started scarring over i liked the way it looked. and occassionaly i cut myself just to even it out....I'm no longer depressed, and i'm not normally ocd about things, but lookign down at my wrists and seeing the scars it makes me happy and i want to make it look nicer...i know that this isn't a good thing to do...i'm thinking about getting a tattoo over the area, sicne it'll cover the area, and the un-eveness will stop bothering. Do you think that this is a good idea? I'm about to graduate college, and do you think this will effect my chances of getting hired if someone sees the tattoos? thanks!

Self-injury of any sorts is dangerous, and I am sure you already know this so I will refrain from being "mom". What I would do is get scar removal cream purchasable at any drug store or Wal-mart. Use the cream to get rid of the scar so there is nothing to obsess over.

You can use a watch or even use gloves to cover up the scars, but you will know they are there which will cause even more of an obsession.

Yes, this can have a direct effect on your chances of gaining a good job of your choosing. Most employer's do not understand the self-injury lifestyle.

A tattoo is not going to help. What will happen if the tattoo is "uneven"?

You said this is not a common behavior. If I was to take a wild guess, I would say this is due to stress. You are about to graduate from college, and that is a very stressful time. While obsessions are not good, I know when I feel I am obsessing too much on something I will chew on the end of straws. Try doing something less potentially fatal as an obsession until the stress subsides and you are able to deal with the behavior more head-on.

Good luck and grats on college!

employers dint like tattoos but then again slit wrists dont give a very positive body image

hmmm i bet my answer was very helpfull

it seems that you are a perfectionist and everything around you has to be even and has to look nice. in your case this could become a problem and i think you should talk to someone about it.

My cousin did the same thing. He ended up running out of room on his wrists and moved to his throat. First make sure you talk to someone. Then buy a watch or bracelet with a wide strap. Do not get tattoos there I can't imagine it would turn out too nice and also worse case scenario makeup will cover your scars a lot easier than tattoos.
