Does Hydrogen Peroxide burn? It didn't when I was little.?!

Question: When I was a child, h.p. never seemed to burn when it was poured on a cut. Now, as an adult, I pour it on a hangnail or a scratch and I about go through the roof! My children do the same thing. I mean it's not from watching me, it really stings them. My husband thinks thats nuts because it never has burned or stung when he's used it on his own cuts. What the heck? Got any ideas?

I find with me it hurts if I pour it on a scrape and it does not hurt if I pour it on a cut. I think it's because with a scrape alot of nerves are exposed but with a cut less nerves are exposed. A scratch is somewhere in between so it may hurt or it may not. Sometimes a scratch will hurt me after putting the hp on it a few times.... watching it fuzz up is fun.

no

Maybe its old or has something mixed in it because it really is not supposed to burn and it doesnt.

I've used it for many years with no complaints. Never burned, i have always used it but not in about a year. Could be some chemical was added. I think i will buy a fresh bottle, and read the ingredients to see if they match my old label.

No, it tingles a bit, but with repeated use H2O2 is the best and cheapest way to heal an open wound. My ex injured himself from his knee to his ankle sliding into home base. The skin was shredded and causing him a lot of pain.We tried every antibacterial ointment you can image. The only thing that actually healed his lacerations was pouring hydrogen peroxide on his leg daily. It's all I use because it really works to heal open wounds.

One don't use hair bleach grade stick to the 3% sold at drugstores for first aid. 2 remove the hangnail first.

Different people have a different pain tolerance. So for instance your body reacts different to how it feels pain.

Hope this helps.

It doesn't sting, but it could be either from you using it on wounds deeper than what it was meant to be used on, or it could be just the bubbling sensation that it gives you when it's "cleaning" out the wound.
