Loud sudden buzz in my ear?!

Question: Laying in bed last night (i was drifting off to sleep, but pretty sure that i was still sufficiently awake), I got a really loud buzz inside my head/ear on the right side. It scared me so I sat up right away and it stopped as soon as I sat up (so only lasted a second or two). It sounded like a cross between a fly and a chainsaw, and was a very obnoxious sound.
Is this a hearing problem, or something like sleep paralysis?

Its the state of intermediation of sleep and awake... part of you are sleeping and another part is awake... where the secretion of corresponding hormones while you are sleeping had been released... when it does.. the sleeping phenomenon occured (the bodily regulation the sleeping metabolism process begins... ) part of your waking body witness the transition period of the wake to sleeping condition and recognizing it as a buzzing sound (translation of nervous network in the corresponding region in the brain)

as for the tinnitus... its the condition where you managed to hear high amplitude of whistling sound at constant time.. ( even if you are awake and especially when you are alone)
from my study, it differentiates between the condition of the buzzing sound that the askers experienced.

yeah its hard to understand the nature of sleeping...
i myself feels hard to understand the description theoretically

a bug wuz probly in ur ear...lol

Its Tinnitus and I have it constantly. Google it and you'll be amazed at the information on it.

yeah i get that sometimes too, though rarely. or a really loud ringing. sorry, can't help, just thought i'd mention that its not something unknown lol!

When I was a kid, my mom used to say that if you hear buzzing or ringing in your ear, it means someone is talking about you. haha Anyway, I'm not sure what it could be unless you hit your head and got a concussion because noise in your ears is one of the symptoms of a concussion. You should check with your doctor but I highly doubt there's anything wrong. Just make sure it doesn't reoccur. If it does, you definitely should see a doctor.

It could be something called Tinnitus which is caused by a list of things like, caffeine, alcohol, ear wax build up, injury from loud noises, stress, etc.

It might be a sign of high blood pressure or an allergy.

You probably noticed it right before falling asleep because your surroundings are quieter than usual. Try sleeping with your head elevated a little unless its too uncomfortable.

If it gets worse, go to a doctor cause it could be an early sign of hearing loss.

This is just one possibility, Tinnitus is the most common cause of that annoying buzzing noise. If you are that concerned, again....see your doc!

You may have an ear infection. Tinnitus is possible also, if you take aspirin, or other medication. It's best to check with your Dr. especially if it re-occurs.

I've also had that before, turned out to be wax build up. Another time I had that it turned out I had an ear infection. But if it doesn't continue to happen I wouldn't worry about it too much.
