Dislocated Shoulder?!

Question: I got into a mass brawl outside of a night club about 4 months ago,i dislocated my shoulder getting pulled away by bouncers while swinging haymakers and hooks like a drunking idiot.

-lesson learnt....dont try and fight when drunk :P-

anyways,my shouder came out completley and as i walked away it was agony so i cracked it back in by grabbing mu completley dead arm and lifting it vertically up....it was still painful after but nowhere near as bad. I went to the hospital the next day for x-rays and all was fine.

4 months on tho, there is still a slight pain,my biggest issue being a thai boxer/boxer i cannot compete, and i cannot lift any kid of heavy weight with my left arm,i attempted some smaller weights around 24kg dumbells yesterday,my right arm was fine,my left could not cope.

how long until i can get back boxing/doing weights?

im losing definition rapidly and im concerned my skills are waining through my stupidty.

-honest answers about the injury please, not moral storys-

I had suffered from my first dislocation at football practice five months ago, so i know how bad it hurts. I went back to football in a month and the first day of practice it came out again. i had surgery november 14. supposedly that was going o fix it but i just dislocated my shoulder again on saturday. So i have to go back and see whats going on.

But in your case I would say, go to a orthopedic doctor with a good reputation an ask for an opinion. As bad as it might sound you might need surgery.

When you dislocate your shoulder you tear your cartilage, and since your cartilage is what holds your shoulder in place, its slight problem when its torn. So if your shoulder is not repaired a dislocation just gets easier and easier. So i would go talk to a doctor about your options.

If you live in Rhode Island, i would go to University of Orthopedics, the head doctor is Doctor Shalvoy and he does all the surgeys. He is one of the best in the state if not the best. Good Luck and hopes this helps.

Aw. ): It could take a few months. Or more. But, just, do not put too much stress on your arm! =) You need to rest it.

I had an injury similar to this...well separated shoulder..go back to the hospital and tell them you are still experiencing pain. They will most likely prescribe you phys. therapy. I did PT for about 2 months until my shoulder was 100%

Sounds to me a partial tear of the rota-tor cuff. That well not show up on a xray only a MRI.
