I poked underneath my thumbnail with a sewing pin and I now think it's infec!

Question: Depending on how long ago this little accident happened, it may not be infected , just terribly sore. (But..)
If you are getting discoloration and or swelling/pressure from under the nail (infection) it is too late for peroxide or topical treatments.
If you catch it early the doctor can give an oral antibiotic and your all set. In bad cases they have to drill the nail to relieve the pressure (hope not).
Make the call.....is it infected? If so call the Doc.
I wish you well.

Do this to make it better. Wash it good with warm soap and water. Then dip it in rubbing alcohol--it will sting because it is killing the bacteria, and then put on an anti-biotic ointment like Neosporene (any drug store)

are you sure is infected? that happen to me a lot of times and i' m still alive and with all my fingers, desinfect with alcohol don't touch it and tomorrow should be fine

I did the same thing, and suffered for a week and half, hoping it would go away. I eventually had to go to the doctor and get antibiotics to treat it. If it doesn't go away in a day or two, save yourself some pain and see a doctor.

See a doctor and next time use a needle not a pin. And sterilize it first.

Don't panic. it isn't infected.Trust me. I've done it NUMEROUS times.. This is what you do... run it under some luke warm water and clean the blood...pour some peroxiside on it to kill any sign of bacteria and relax.
