Why am I craving a cigarette when I don't smoke???? Anyone had this happen?!

Question: I have never smoked and have only ever smoked an occasional cigarette (sneaking them to see what it was like).

This happens to me every few years.. I realize, "man, a cigarette would be AMAZING right now."

Nicotine stores in your fat cells, so if you have ever smoked, you will occasionally get a craving. They are usually not really strong, and if you can ignore it, you will not become a smoker.

In recent years, some tobacco companies have made cigarettes more addictive. It used to take longer for an actual addiction to set in, but now, you can get addicted in just a few cigarettes. So be careful!

As for the cravings--if you remain a non-smoker, they will eventually go away. I used to smoke, and now, four years after quitting, the cravings are few and far between. I just eat a hard candy or chew gum and it goes away. Just don't smoke to ease the craving, and you will be good to go in no time!

My dad used to smoke when I was little but quit when I was around 4 or 5. For some reason, starting in my teenage years, I would crave a cigarette. My mom told me I was crazy. I guess not! Unfortunately, I started smoking later in my 20's. Now I'm hooked.

I guess you're not getting enough tar in your diet. Kidding.

Cravings come in many forms. Often when we move away from an addiction such as food, drugs, sex, shopping...it shows up inanother form unless we address the underlying need or cause. If we're lonely and turn to food, then break that craving, we often turn to other things and perhaps the smoke urge is your body talking to you about a need it has.

Smoke a joint.

Does anyone you spend a lot of time with smoke? You can become addicted through passive smoking (inhaling some else's smoke).

I spend all day with my fiance most of the time and he smokes...when he's not around me for a few hours I get this odd urge to smoke - I've never smoked, I hate it and I'm allergic to tobacco smoke. But I get the urge nevertheless.

So when he goes out, I find myself jittery, on edge and I start binge eating lol.

He's quitting soon, so it's going to be interesting for both of us!!!!
