After a week in hospital for pancreatitis my partner is still experiencing pain !

Question: Is this normal? He is taking codine but when that wears off he's in pain, especially whilst eating.

1. Codeine is not that strong of a pain medication. In fact, it is ineffective in up to 30% of people.

2. Pain with eating means that the pancreas still has inflammation. He should back off the diet- fluids better than solids, and the pancreas deals with protein less than fat and carbs.
