Really bad, sharp pain on right side under ribs?!
Question: It gets so bad to the point that I cant move or take deep breaths....I went to the emergercy room once for it and they said it was probably an ulcer but weren't sure....It has come back again and I am worried....When I went to the hospital they also said it most likely wasn't my gall bladder....any advice??

it could be costochondritis. it's a relatively common condition where the cartilage of the ribs becomes inflamed and painful. it happens to me all the time - it's usually a very sudden onset, like i won't even know it's happening until i start to take a breath. and then, bam! very sharp pain in the rib area. a lot of people i know have had this and immediately recognize it when you describe it to them. there's nothing you can do about it, but i found that taking ibuprofen helped. so if you're having sporadic pain that's very sharp but goes away within a few minutes, that could be it. you can read this website on it:

well about the only thing there is the gall bladder and liver, bypass the emergency room, for this you need either a surgeon or a gastroenterologist.

I had the same problem, and it turned out to be my gall bladder. It was in an unusual location, apparently.

You didn't say how long you have this and how often it happens. What type of pain, sharp, dull, shooting, etc. Is it possible that you broke a rib? You need an XRay to determine that.pp
