Question about lap-band surgery.?!
Question: I am very interested in getting the lap-band surgery. Both for my overall health and to help alleviate severe back pain that resulted from a car accident. I already know that I'm a good candidate for the surgery and there are several good surgeons in my area (Tampa, FL). The problem is my insurance refuses to pay for the procedure even though it is medically neccessary and I can't afford to pay for it out of pocket. Has anyone else been through this same situation that could offer me some advice or an alternative solution? Thanks!

How is it medically neccesary? If your primary care physician agrees it is needed, they should eb able to get it covered for you. But most people, unless severely obese or disabled, can loose the weight in other ways, and so it is not needed.
