Surgery Aftermath! Stitches!?!
Question: Hey.
I just got surgery yesterday on my foot. I got 6 stitches, and they hurt whenever I put pressure on my foot, or weight for that matter. I am kinda worried though, the nurse gave me a shoe, so that whenever I step on the floor, I use it. But I'm concerned that the nurse said I didn't need crutches, but everytime I use the shoe, it Hurts like crazy. I will be going back to school on Monday,... Is it wise to ask the doctor for crutches, or just stick it out in the shoe & stitches?
And, do you have any tips for me on how to take care of them, bare in mind that hey are all covered with a dressing.
--Thanks lots.

since you just had your surgery i would wait for a little bit today. if the pain continues to be unbearable tomorrow then i would ask for the crutches just incase.
It's normal. And the pain will subside as the swelling goes down. I wouldn't go with crutches. Keep those stitches clean. Change your dressing often and in a sterile environment. Not keeping them clean risks developing a staph infection, and that is a nasty business.
It's going to be sore for a couple of days. I would try to avoid putting any weight on it. Let it heal up some. You don't want to tear your sutures loose.
