Tips for quitting smoking?!


Question: I started smoking when I was around 13, I never lived at home.. I was in programs for issues (group homes, residential facilities) and started smoking with the other kids. After that, I continued smoking for 5 years. Now that it's been 5 years, I can't stand it anymore. I don't want to smoke, but I just can't quit. I try and try, What kind of tips did you use that helped you? Besides Chantix, and nicorette.

Try this. figure out how many cigarettes you smoke a day and how much time span there is between cigarettes. get a timer of some kind. A watch with an alarm, a cell phone with an alarm, anything you can program to beep. Lets say you light up every 5-10 min set your timer to beep every 15-20 min. That is your signal to smoke. every day increase the time between your cigarettes by 30min. by the time you get to 8hr between cigarettes, try picking days you don't smoke at all. Keep gum or hard candy handy for the urges. try changing your routine. A lot of people find that they habitually smoke while on the phone, with their coffe etc. try something different while doing these activities. ie; doing a crossword, reading etc. Good luck and never give up. It takes some people multiple tries

And when you feel like you reeeeally need a cigarette, tell yourself to wait 5 minutes. In 5 minutes, the craving is usually gone. And if you can get through like, the first 3 days that way, then you'll realize how much you really dont need them anymore.

drink a lot of hot tea and warm water too, around 3 liters/day. That will help you to detoxicate your body faster, and get out the nicotin from your system

you could try all the methods everybody tells you, but most important one is your will power to say NO whenever you feel the urge to smoke.... be strong. Good Luck

its all will power. sounds dumb but if your not doing for yourself, no one can force you. can suggest a million things, but like i said... pick up a diff. addiction, shop more
