Bad posture can lead to bad things..correct? But is it possible to fix?!

Question: I used to have really bad posure until my physio went to an extreme measure and litterally taped an 'X' from my left should to my right hip and my right should to my left hip with duct tape. If my body went to slouch the tape wouldnt allow it! lol as frustrated as i got and it was extreme i know but it worked!
Fit balls and yoga balls also help strengthen your back and tummy muscles which will help keep your posture nice. Swimming does also...
Good luck!!

Yeah their are a few ways you can learn to correct bad posture.

Physiotherapists can show you different ways of doing things and may be able to provide you with different support items to encourage good posture

Although i know little about it, there is the Alexander Technique which makes people think more carfully about how and why they move. It's meant to suggest better methods of attaining good posture.

Yoga is also good. It strengthens back and tummy muscles and encourages straight back and correct movements

Yes, bad posture can lead to bad things. If your carry yourself in the posture with your head down and shoulders rounded it can decrease the amount of oxygen that you get into your lungs and also could possibly affect your digestion. It also has an effect on how other people view you (I know, our world judges people without ever talking to them).

There are exercises that can help with posture, think they are called mirror exercises, where you hold your posture in the opposite direction for a few seconds and do it for repetitions. Posture takes a while to fix, would find a posture specialist who really deep down enjoys fixing posture, they are out there. If they are really into it, it will help you achieve a positive outcome.

I can easily fix bad posture, so can the better massage/chiropractic/physical therapists.

The longer you have bad posture the harder and longer it can take to correct. The skill of the practitioner is very important as some of the better ones can give you results in a single session that takes others a year and a half and longer to achieve if they ever achieve such effect.

Also depends on the type of problem you have, scoliosis (easy for me to address), kyphosis (can be a little tricky) doesn't bother me much, but I can struggle when it comes to lordosis (often beats me). Different therapists are good/better at different things.
