Women-If you have used Implanon please respond!!!?!
Question: I have been on the depo shot for a few years and my doctor mentioned that I may want to consider Implanon. I am 25 and have no interest in having children for a few years (so the whole 3 year thing is fine with me). However, I am creeped out by the fact that they put a small rod type thing in your arm. My questions are: How badly did it hurt getting it put in? I know they numb your arm but they are still sticking something the size of a matchstick under your skin! LOL-Yes, I know I sound like a whimp. Also, did any of you experience any side affects? I have the pamplet and have spoken with a nurse briefly about it but I want to hear from people who have actually had it implanted!!! Thanks. =)

I was the same as you on the depo and changed to the implant. I am on my 2nd implant now. They numb the area so its not sore going in, in fact I didnt feel anything until later that night when it wore off it was a bit sore to move my arm upwards but with painkillers and some sleep I was fine. Quite bruised the next day but its on the inside of your arm so you cant really see it. Havent had any side effects at all, I feel its much better than the depo! Dont worry the doctor who will put it in will explain everything to you, just bite the bullet once its in you dont have to worry about it for 3 years!
