My Mum's just had a hernia op- can anyone advise please?!

Question: Hi there,
My 53 year old Mum has had a hernia op, and had the clips removed Monday. She's really eager to get back to her ab exercises, but her Dr has told her no way for about a month. She wants to know if there's anything 'light' she can do to keep her shape until the months up? She's not even allowed to walk far!

Thanks guys and gals,

Eva x

I had a Umbillical hernia repair. I was told I was NOT to do anything for 6-8 weeks. I had just moved and needed to unpack some boxes. Needless to say I didn't listen. Now I have to get it all done again, but not for another 6-8 weeks until everything sets so they can do it again and I'm back at the bottom of the list. I was told I may have to wait 6 months. Tell her to do nothing, even though it bothers her......better to be safe than sorry...like me.

Even light things can tear tissue in the first two to three weeks.

dont do anything...a month isnt going to turn her into a fat slob...lol...i had double hernia's when i was a kid i was born with it...and i got over it totally fine...it aint serious..i dont even have a scar.
