Why screen for scoliosis?!
Question: It grows worse with age and it is rather easy to see without needing x-rays and expensive tests...
When caught young it is more eaisly correctable so the sooner they find it the less physical trauma there is to make sure it doesn't lead to a life time of disability and pain.
I REALLY didn't like having to take my top off in front of a nurse in the school locker room but NOW that I know what it was they were looking for I am glad they did it.
If they EXPLAIN to the kids why they need to take their tops off and not just say "We are looking for Scoliosis" then it might not be such a traumatic event for so many!

It can be corrected if caught early, while it can be debilitating or even deadly if a severe case is allowed to develop.
If not caught early on it can lead to a lot of other health problems including death.
like a lot of conditions and diseases, early detection makes it easier to treat and cure.
