Did my dog hit a nerve or something when he bit me?!

Question: My Jack Russell Terrier bit me yesterday and I am getting a little worried over what he may have done beneath the skin. He bit my index finger between the middle knuckle and the knuckle closest to my palm. The cut is about three centimeters wide but he bit down far enough that I can see the "meat" beneath the layers of skin and my entire finger, including all three knuckles are quite swollen. Also, just these past few hours my arm has felt like it is hardly getting any blood throughout it. It sort of aches and stabs of pain can be felt.

I poured rubbing alcohol over it, washed it with soap, put antibiotic ointment on it, and covered it with a band-aid. Also, I have been laying a bag of ice over it and keeping it elevated. (I don't know if any of that was right but...) I can't afford to go to the doctor because I know the bill will be a hundred dollars at the least. Is there any other home remedies that can be done and will it be alright?

Dog bites can cause serious infections, especially in the hand. Better work out some way to pay, and go get treated.
