Killer Headache?!

Question: I'm really sick with the flu. I have a killer headache and my back is aching too. My head is throbbing. Since 10:00 last night (about 12 hours ago), I have taken 8 Advils, and you're only supposed to take 6 in 24 hours. They haven't worked at all. I'm also running a very high fever (104.3 degrees) and I'm getting dehydrated (I haven't been able to keep anything down, even water). Since Friday night I have only eaten half a waffle and half a mug of soup. How can I get rid of my throbbing headache? What causes headaches?

drink gatoraid and such to help with the electrolytes for your body. as well as WATER... try some tea as well. If you are able to start holding down liquids, sip soup chicken soup broth and work your way up to eating the soup. Try popsicles too as they will help numb your throat to help with the acid reflux that you've probably felt from throwing up.

Did you eat anything or attempt you while taking the advils? As they aren't the softest on your stomach, it's best that you took them with food. They might be upsetting your stomach, in other words. But keep trying the liquids. If your fever goes back up and you aren't holding liquids down, go to the ER. They will IV you and pump fluids back into you.

I would say the cause of your headache is the pain/action of throwing up with a combo of dehydration.

Take care & make sure you tell me how you are feeling.

im no doctor but all i can say is SLEEP

I don't know what has caused it and what will work, but go see a doctor.

that doesn't sound like a normal flu. you should really head into the ER or your doc. you might have something more serious like meningitus or something.
good luck

ok, take a night / day quil.....dont take the pill only the liquid, it tastes terrible but it works

also, you should probly see a docter

You gotta be careful with asprin and Advil... don't exceed the recommended doseage! Did you keep the waffle and soup down? Headaches are caused by a huge number of things.

Sorry :-(...I want to help, but I don't want to give you the wrong advice! Good Luck!!! I hope you feel better :-)

You're dehydrated. Drink more water. Then try this. I did this with my girlfriends daughter. Put vicks vapor rub on your temples and massage the area. Then take off your shirt and put vapor rub on your chest ( I got her mom to do that part thank you) Then lay down with her head propped up on a pillow and put a cool rag folded up across her forehead.

Works everytime. Her headache is gone in a matter of fifteen minutes.

Don't take more advil than what is recommended. You could eat a hole in your stomach lining.

when I get a headache all I do is sleep and when I wake up it's all better.

You can die from the side effects of the flu, and you could be highly contagious, so get an ambulance right away.
dehydration could be triggering your headache, or your liver. A headache is always a wake up call to another more serious issue, usually related to a major internal organ such as the liver. If the liver can't handle the medication it protects your blood flow {stopping the circulation of what it considers toxic} by contracting. So the advil where not a good choice, although l do understand that when in pain we are not thinking clearly. .
When this is over, re-establish your balance by first dringing eight to ten glasses of water a day and get lots of vitamins including milk thistle, probiotics {you can also try the yogurt}, fish oil capsules, vitamin D {in northern climates we need 1000 ui per day], all your B's and C. Get some echinasia and now and gain do a 5 day run {you can't take it all the time}, and get some kombunca tea, ginger, rosehip, and white tea. Kombunca is great {take it as soon as you get it} for everything {but it does have caffine so don't overdo it}, ginger is always good for any little stomach upset {just keep it on hand}, rosehip has a ton of vitamin C, and white tea is a powerful anti-oxiden.
As soon as you are feeling completely better do a herbal detox {the whole body, not just for the liver}, to flush any toxins out of your system {if you feel ill when you do this, be grateful, that is the bad stuff leaving your body}.
And chicken noodle soup with potato peelings is your best bet for anything, flu, disease, colds.
Yes, go to the ER, get a ambulance if necessary, or take a cab. I would consider the ambulance because you could be highly infectious

sound like something i had a year ago if you go for so long without being able to keep down water you will have to go to hospital and get put on a drip. you should have seen your doctor ages ago.

i'd get to the ER ASAP, especially with that high of a fever. more than likely the headache is caused by the fever and dehydration. if you go the ER they can give you some IV fluids and give you something for the pain. not to mention try to help with the vomiting. this is not something you want to play around with. the flu can kill you so get some medical attention now.

BLOOD PRESSURE!!!!! This can make headaches so bad...especially if you are puking....DO NOT TAKE MORE PILLS!!! You could have a kidney infection...all symptoms you have, it could be this...Pain will make you puke...TRY NIBBLING ON SALTINE CRACKER or dry piece of toast, 1 nibble every 10 min...If you do take more advil, take 2 with SOMETHING HOT...That will make them melt quicker and get to your blood stream faster...DARK ROOM, cover your eyes, no noise...If this continues, DO NOT MESS AROUND...GET TO E.R., It could be STROKE RELATED.....GOD BLESS!!
