yes. A MRI machine will show almost everything that is soft tissue. Ligaments, tissue, etc (anything soft) will show up in an MRI machine because it aligns the H+ ions in the tissue, thus producing an image on the computer screen. They can do a contrast MRI by injecting a dye IV which will "light-up" the problem area.
Just remember to be super still for about 30 minutes

I had one of these and they can spot your injury months after wards, its painless, but a bit loud, they give you ear plugs.

My daughter went for an MRI on her knee. The MRI came back as inconclusive. Something didn't look right, but the Dr's couldn't really get a clear view.
She ended up going in for a scope. The Dr found 3 tears in her medial meniscus, that the MRI didn't pickup.
