? Why does Tylenol Cold (multi-symptom) say not to combine with other meds conta!

Question: I took it for a cold that i'm trying to rid myself of. And i noticed that on the box. It says not to take with other meds containing acetaminophen... but it doesn't say WHY not to.
I always combine stuff...... like advil & tylenol; or multiple products containing ibuprofin and acetaminophen and diphenhydramine or cloropheniramine and so on. (pain-releivers/fever reducers/antihystamines etc). I did tonight, as i took advil/tylenol for a headache as well.

I don't expect it to do anything disasterous, So, WHY does is say not to. What will happen?

:P
?

Dangerous Side Effects

Serious acetaminophen side effects pose a much greater risk than many consumers realize. In some cases, an individual may experience an acetaminophen side effect and attribute it to some other cause. Sadly, some users even suffer liver failure due to acetaminophen use without their ever knowing.

Some of the more severe acetaminophen side effects include:

Acute liver toxicity
Allergic reactions including swelling, difficulty breathing, closing of throat, and more
Abdominal pain
Nausea
Unusual bleeding or bruising
Death
Liver Failure, Death, and Acetaminophen

Acetaminophen becomes a toxin when large amounts are ingested or under other specific conditions. The U.S. Acute Liver Failure Study Group found that acetaminophen poisoning is the leading cause of liver failure in the nation, accounting for approximately half of all cases. Some of these instances of liver failure occur even when following the dosage recommendations printed on the bottle.

it is possible to o.d. on acetaminophen when mixing cold medicines and cause liver damage, be careful

B/c acetaminophen is the same as tylenol, so you could overdose
RN

They don't want you to overdose. And if you do overdose, they want to be able to say they told you not to if you sue them.

Because tyloenol IS acetaminophen. You could OD.

Acetaminophen is surprisingly hepatotoxic(liver) as well as nephrotoxic(kidney) in large doses. There is already the normal dose of Tylenol in every Tylenol product. So, taking headache Tylenol with cold preparations containing acetaminophen is dangerous. Worse, nothing disasterous will happen tonight.
It will take years to catch up with you. Just when you have your life all figured out, years of misuse of over-the-counter medications will have wreaked havoc on your liver and you will drop dead.
