My boyfreind has a bone infection and may have to have his leg amputated........!
Question: He got in a car accident which required surgery.I hasnt healed right and now is infected.He doesnt want treatment and tells me and his freinds to stay away.He is in awful pain ,has nightsweats and chills says he wants to die in his sleep so his parents can have the insurance money.The real reason is he is afraid of amputation and says nobody will hire him.I tryed to go see him anyway and he screamed and yelled at me to stay away he wasnt the same person anymore.He hates me and everyone else.He said get a new boyfreind.I told him no ive been with him for years.I talked to a nurse and she said I cant force him to take treatment or to go see a doctor.His parents say I should have more faith in God and that he just wants attention. I told him I would help him and support him but he said he doesnt want charity.I said its not charity I love him.He told me he is trying to find a way to have another accident that will end his misery.He told told me stay away.dont call.How can I help him?

You can help him by doing what he states, stay away. He was in a car accident, of his doing, or not, but now has to face a unknown future. He might end up as a amputee, in which case only he can decide if he wants to be a amputee. He has a long hard road of mental, emotional and physical pressure to get around his mind and his body and that will take time for him to 'think' about. However with so many people seeing him and trying to make decisions 'for' him, expect he is now thinking: next they will be asking my Parents, or Girlfriend if I take sugar'. The only person who can survive this trauma is HIM and with so many people telling him what he should do, expect he feels as if he is drowning in 'Good Advise' but the decision, he is the one that has to 'live' with the consequences, not you or his family. Therefore stay away until he has made that decision. Best of Luck
Aww I feel so bad for him,his family,and you as well.I don't have an answer for you but I hope he will see what a wonderful girlfriend he has and I hope he will change his mind and see you soon.It has to be hard knowing he could lose his leg but surely he doesn't want to lose you to.Good luck to you.I will say a little prayer for you and him.
If there is way to contact DR or leave message with his office nurse thenn tell them you feel me needs counceling for depression other then his parents input.. You may have to step back and let others handel it, Send him a cardevery day. But dont be overwelming to him. He is dealing with a lot and meds may be cause of some of this. How good of you to seek more help for him.
Whatever hasppens employment after rehab is very well possible now days. IN fact business get tax brecks to help people get a job that has had problems like this. THE employment office can direct you for help in that area. BUT thats a long way off
. HE needs mental help now. DR can request a mental evaluation for his safety. Agueing now is just waste time.
REPORT his suicide talk and talk of more injury. IUT IS the DR and Hospital duty to get him help if it is reported. Stay in contact but avoid aguments, make visit short for now. IT WILL be better.
I've seen individuals walking around perfectly normal with no legs at all, mechanical devices are very advanced anymore. So the worst case scenerio is that he loses a leg, if he gets a mechanical one he can still walk, run, get around and go wherever he wants. Perhaps if he is a top athlete, a surfer, or heavily into swimming it might affect him a bit, but if none of those are the case, he is being incredibly silly and needs to be informed as such. Geesh, it isn't like he is going to be confined to a wheel chair or anything.
