How can I quit smoking marijuanaa forever?!

Question: I have been smoking pot for about a year now. At first, I enjoyed smoking very much, but now I am at the point where I just get depressed and upset with myself whenever I do it. I have tried to quit numerous times, but somehow I always go back to it eventually. I truly want to stop using the drug because it has only caused me trouble this past year. Ive noticed that every time I want to smoke it is usually because I am stressed out about something and dont want to deal with it. Any advice on how to quit smoking for good? I really need to stop forever, not just for a few months. Thanks

I've got a few suggestions.

Take out all the numbers out of your phone that you call to get marijuana. If you're truly serious about quitting, you'll forget the numbers and it will become insignificant.

Read up about how detrimental it is to your lungs and brain.

Realize that if you ever get caught, then you are facing charges for posession of a controlled substance.

Realize that if you ever get caught driving under the influence of it, the severity of the problem becomes MUCH worse.

Try and estimate how much time you spend smoking and sitting around being high. Try and estimate how much money you have spent on marijuana, then think of how many other things would be a much better investment.

your first step is to get a big envelope and a stamp....i'll wait...

well I've never smoked, but it's obvious that it's already taken the place of your natural comfort zone, for me thats alone time and watching tv or taking a bath. Try replacing it.

It's not widely known, but there is a prescription drug called Neurontin that has helped many people lose the craving and quit. Best of all, it has low side effects and is very safe. It is usually prescribed by psychologists because it is used for epilepsy and some disorders involving depression. It also helps quit alcohol.

A problem is that most regular doctors will be unfamiliar with it, but you could try your doctor and request a referral to a psychiatrist if he/she won't issue it.

Neurontin is also called gabapentin. That's what doctors call it.

This may sound like a big pain. But I was an alcoholic for 22 years and tried many times to quit. When I went on gabapentin, I quit in five days. That was seven years ago.

I hope this helps. Good luck!
