No, I have had knee problems for 20 years... one knee I broke 3 times and the other nothing.. I only wear a brace on the bad knee and the other knee has never had a prblem. Just the conditioning you put your leg through. My dominant leg has never had a pulled muscle or shin splint but my drag leg has.

when you get older, you may need the heat to keep you joints loose, but you can put muscle rub on you knee without the creases from the braces and get the same effect.

Hi there,
I am not sure whether you are suggesting you have a knee problem, or whether you wish to prevent against one.
OK... so if you have knee problems, huge variety, but if you currently wear a knee brace, then this will be preventing your knee from doing further damage, or to keep you going until you have surgery, it is also a form of support.

A brace is different to a knee support, a knee brace is a lot more sturdy, can have metal work on the outer sides of your knee, and more than likely will go onto your thigh, this can be used if you have problems with giving way, or ligament damage etc and will more than likely be given to you at the hospital,
...If you have long term problem, like arthritis, and feel the need for a knee support, then this will do the job, and, or may prevent an old injury reoccuring, with the added support especially if you are jogging or out brisk walking etc, these can be bought at shops chemists, and are very general.

Dont just wear a support if you dont have anything wrong with your knees, to prevent something which may never happen.
Keep your thigh muscles strong, and let them do the work.
Hope this helps, as didnt give much info about what condition you have, or if you have one. Thanks..
