Random pains in my ear?!

Question: I have this random pain in my left ear that occurs sometimes. Seperate from the pain in my left ear, but also bothersome, is a mild burning sensation that happens with the pain, after the pain and when the pain isn't happening. Slight hearing loss in left ear as well. Any suggestions? I have a doctors appointment coming up, but am curious to see if anyone has had this happen to them before.

Infection and irritated nerves as well as issues with your jaw (examples only) could be causing this.
