If you have low blood pressure, that could be causing the dizziness. Test yours at the grocery store for free to see if that's the problem. The next time you go to the doctor, ask them to check your blood pressure sitting, lying down, and then immediately after standing to see if yours fluctuates too.

My brother (6'3" and 200 pounds) occasionally falls like a tree if he jumps out of bed or off the couch too quickly due to his low blood pressure. Mine's on the low side of normal, and I get dizzy, my vision blurs and darkens, and I need to grab hold of something to stay standing. My doctor said to make sure I eat plenty of salt, because that helps people with low blood pressure. Also, like the other posters have said, get up slowly to allow your body to adjust.

its because you are standing up suddenly

that happens to me sometimes... just try standing up slower than usual one day & you will see :)

I have done that when I got up to fast. When you wake up sit up for a minute before you jump to your feet

Your not getting enough oxygen, do you smoke?

Low blood pressure. You are just getting up too fast, so the blood rushes out of your head. It happens to me a lot. You get dizzy, then everything goes black, but you're still awake. It's just called a head rush. Get up slower and you might and should notice a difference.
