Is non necessary health care covered by insurance?!

Question: I was wondering if non necessary as in not an illness procedures covered by health insurance? I am pretty sure I have a hormonal issue and I need to see an endocrinologist. Also, could I just call an endocrinology office and make an appointment or do I need a referral from my GP?

When you call for an appointment ask them if they can find out from the insurance company what is covered and what requires a referral, alot of times the secretary will be able to tell you. If not they usually don't mind finding out for you. Besides, you're going to need to know how much it will cost anyway.

That should be covered by your insurance.

With a lot of insurance companies, you have to see your regular doctor first, and they will give you a referral to a specialist.

Call the company's customer service and ask them what is covered! Good luck!
