Can anyone give me some tips on getting myself to sleep quicker?!

Question: bascially, i'm 14, half way through puberty, and i try to get to sleep and in takes a while sometimes! (30-45 mins) Please tell me if this is perfectally normal lol, buy my dad gets to sleep in like 5mins no matter what every night (Snores alot too!), i know i havn't got any kind of disorder, i had a check-up about 5 months ago, i LOVE my sleep, and am usually a bit tired, it doesn't have anything to do with fitness, as i play rugby and jog 3-4 times a week, but am i just inpatient? Or is there something wrong with my sleep pattern? Counting sheep is rubbish lol, i also read a thing on the internet called "Sleep Hygiene" that was good havn't tried many of the tips out yet though! Some extra notes..

1. i use my bed to watch t.v, read and play on the ps2
2. i have a fairly big room
3. my room is tidy, except for my drawers and desk which are covered with books e.t.c (drawers next to me, and desk is opposite side of room)

though these might be to help, sorry it's so long! Thanx.

Sleep experts say that if you watch television or play games before bed you will find it harder to get to sleep and that when you do sleep it won't be boosting your energy as much (I don't really understand that either)

Your brain may be associating your bed with television and activities. You should just wait until your tired, read for fifteen minutes then try and sleep, or even listen to music turned down low on an mp3 player. Try not to watch television and such before you sleep, especially in your bed.

think about nothing at all.

Nthing. Don't even think about thinking about nothing.
If you are tired you will fall asleep hf

turn everything off radio tv anything that will keep you thinking..
and close yuor eyes and just think NOTHING! haha...this happend to me after i got expelled...but it was worse thank God i was able to over come it! haha...but yeah just turn everthibg off and close your eyes and before you know it...ITs morning! :() Good luck!

30-45 min. is perfectly normal. I use valerian root herbal tea when I can`t sleep for hours.

Well if you use your bed to watch t.v. i suggest you unplug it at night. Its a constant distraction. You sant go to sleep quickly by watching t.v. unless you are really tired and the t.v. will instantly put you to sleep. So bascicly icoliate your self from all distractions! (t.v.s, psp, books,. etc.)

i tried everything all my life since childhood! finally recently i started taking MELATONIN it is a supplement found in the vitamin isle i fall asleep so fast now its unbelievable! MELATONIN is something the body is supposed to produce naturally but dosent always do it right. i also find it easier to fall back asleep if i wake up.

whiskey!
