What age did you start smoking and what brand did/do you smoke now? Did it chang!

Question: If you quit smoking or never have smoked then state that. No need for preaching about cancer and death and all that I, along with every other person who has probably ever smoked a cigarette after the 60s has known that cigarettes cause cancer. They can also cause addiction but I am not addicted because I enjoy smoking. An addiction is usually something you do not enjoy doing and you suffer from withdrawl and whatnot. I do not. I am 15 and smoke. I love it and yes am aware it is detremental to my health.

i had my first cigarettes in the 7th or 8th grade but we had no idea what we were doing and i didn't really start smoking until i turned 18. the first pack of smokes i bought was Camel Wide Filters. now i enjoy parliament lights with the occasional wide filter.

at age 15 i doubt you are addicted, but if you are inhaling, getting a buzz and enjoying it like the big boys. then you will be addicted soon, and at $5 a pack in most areas, and a pack a day for most smokers, **** gets expensive! be careful lil man

I started smoking at age 17. I stopped at 21. Absolute best thing I ever did- I can taste and smell everything 20 times better now, and I eat less because I taste more flavor and I am satisfied more quickly. I'm not preaching- I was just like you. Now I don't smell like a dirty ash tray :)

The first time I smoked was maybe 14. But I started smoking regularly at 18 (newports) and I've never switched brands. Except when the store is out I smoke Camel menthols. Now 5 years later I wish I never would have started!! My best friend (and now my roomie) both said we would never get addicted and we just liked to take the stress away... but now we can't quit!!!

It's definietly a social thing... and if you hang out with smokers you'll still smoke. You should think about not smoking (for all the blah blah blah reasons)... but do as you please.

You can enjoy doing something that you're addicted to, so i hate to say it but you're wrong on that part. However, i've only smoked a few times and i hate Newports, my friend smokes those so i ask to have one of his occasionally. Marlboro lights are my favorite. And i'm glad you know the shitty effects of cigarettes, knowing them won't stop you, it doesn't stop most people, just realize you can get addicted without realizing it.

Started smoking at 13.
Marlboro.
Changed brands a few times. KOOL, Benson and Hedges, Raleigh, Viceroy, and X brand cheap ****. Also, switched to Swisher Sweeet cigarillos a couple fo times for a month or two.

Quit smoking in October of 2005, Glory to God! I was 33.

You say you are not addicted because you enjoy smoking. I enjoyed smoking as well. It was still an addiction. Most people quite enjoy their addictions, it is the *consequences* of those addictions that they find unpleasant. It is the pleasure that keeps them coming back. I couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without becoming winded, and my pocket book was much lighter when I smoked. I enjoyed smoking, I just didn't enjoy the consequences of it, or the prospect of dying from lung cancer. Wait a little while. You will see.

Plus, it doesn't really matter that people weren't certian that smoking caused cancer until the sixties. Anyone with any sense knew that inhaling smoke was bad for you, so they knew that it would cause illness. They just didn't know which kind. I saw the old commercials that said some brands were good for smoker's cough. But since when did everyone ever believe everything they saw on television?
