Because the nations tobacco growers and rollers are in charge of this addiction to the point of being one of the big guys selling patches. They are not poor and without power they are politcal powerful rich and could really care that it is addictive and they have added 4000 chemicals to keep you on it.

The centers are for free at some places ,there are free education on line, with forums to educate.
In Canada it says on the pack of cigarettes known to be addictive. The surgeon general quit smoking after they did their finding in the US, but they did not post how addictive nicotene is.

because smoking doesn't interfere with your life the way drugs and alcohol do. Of course it stinks, it's unhealthy, and some people don't approve, but you can totally function in daily life while being addicted to smoking.

In alot of cases it is treated as such, but I do see what you are saying. I would say because it is not personality altering like drugs or alcohol.
If the government wasnt so greedy with the tax money it get from tobacco, they would make it illigal.

It is (in the UK) doctors can prescribe nicotine replacement therapy free of charge (patches, gum etc) and there are also "stop smoking clinics" throughout the country.

Bottom line is, if you REALLY want to quit you will just do it regardless of thether these tools are there to aid you or not.

I quit 2 years ago, it wasn't easy, but my need to be healthy was greater than my need for nicotine.
