Stress fracture in lower back?!

Question: I may have a stress fracture in my lower back. It's near the bottom of the vertebral column (called the lumbar). What would the treatment be for this? (Ex: How long would it take to heal? Would I have to wear a brace? What would be my allowed range of activity?)

I had that. It was in my 5th lumbar vertebrae. It was called spondylolysis, and it was caused because i didnt stretch enough. It took me 5 grueling months to be able to be active and go back to soccer. I was supposed to wear a big thick ugly white plastic back brace all the time but i only wore it like 4 times. once to school lol but i tried to keep my back straight. your allowed range of activity would be swimming, walking, sitting. no running, jumping, contact sports, leaning back far, bending down to low, dancing. oh god it sucks lol im tellin you it SUCKS! :( but it goes by faster than you think. good luck healing :]

If you know that you have the stress fracture, the MD who diagnosed it should have told you the answers to ALL of these questions. If he didn't, then you need to call him back and talk to him again.....you or your insurance has been charged for such.

you need to ask your dr didnt he tell you this?

also i would recomend crutches so there wont be so much pressure on it and an ace wrap couldnt hurt i guess
