Besides taking tylenol or advil what else do you do to get rid of a bad headache!

Question: Lay down in a dark and quiet room. You could put a damp washcloth over your forehead and eyes. You could try massaging your temples. Try to relax. Maybe do some light stretches.

Caffeine will help.
Most of the over the counter headache pain relievers contain caffeine, which has been proven to reduce headaches. Other things would be turning off/down the lights in your house and trying to sleep it off.

Personally I hate taking medicine for things like headaches so I just drink some water and lay down normally. I've heard sometimes headaches can be caused by a bit of dehydration, and have found that drinking some water really does help sometimes, though not always. Sometimes pinching the pressure point between your thumb and your first finger helps too. Sometimes if it's too bad all you can do is take the medicine, but I like to try the other things first.

Knowing how to use pressure points helps (back of the neck, temples, shoulders). Drinking lots of water.

make a cold compress consisting of 1 cup of cold water & a few drops of lavendar oil & put it on your forehead

Dringking Gatorade helps relief from headache

Someone suggested caffeine but be careful with that. Caffeine can actually cause headaches, I can't have it anymore.

I'd try drinking some water or Gatorade and then taking a nap, by the time you wake up the headache should be gone. Also avoid bright lights and loud sounds if at all possible.

If you get a lot of bad headaches you may want to see a specialist. I have to visit a neurologist for migraines, I also take a lot of pills to prevent the headaches from even coming.

All of these answers are good and obviously from fellow headache sufferers. One other thing I do is take Benedryl. When I had my first migraine I went to the ER. That was about 4 years ago. They gave me cocktail of Benedryl and anti-nausea medication. They said they've had the best luck with this as opposed to other RX pain killers. And I've treated my headaches from that point forward with 2 Benedryl + 2 Advil. It's also important to catch it early before the pain becomes unbearable. And ALWAYS put something (even just crackers) in your stomach before you take anything or drink anything caffeinated when you are treating a headache.

Water and sleep will cure mose headaches. If it's really bad then lying in a dark room and putting something cold like a wet flanel or a wrapped up bag of frozen peas accross your forehead (from temple to temple) and something warm like a hot water bottle on the back of your neck works wonders.
If you get a lot of headaches then you might need to get your eyes tested.

Tiger Balm. and a heating pad. It really is amazing. put on temples and back of neck. Try to cut out the light. Or if at work or whatever use sunglasses....

I find if I don't drink caffiene at least a sip of it I'll get a headache. I'm sorta addicted to caffiene. If I have a bad headache, I'll drink caffiene and then go to bed, sleeping it off really helps me
