Really really really painful runner knee?!

Question: have been diagnosed with runners knee exaclty one year ago. i went to the orthopedic surgon when it first started. he gave me streatches and an anti inflamitory. i have been doing the streatches. it went away for awhile. it came back this year and it is in both knees now. it kills me to walk down stairs and even sit down for a long period of time. my friends and parents think im joking around. but why would i be joking about this horrible. it is getting unbareable. ive taken the anti inflamitory's, i have a knee stablizer, i do the streatches, im gradually exercising it. what am i doing wrong? im at the end of my rope PLEASE help me. i wasnt able to do any sports this year because of m knee problems. sometimes while walking down stairs at school i just want to stop and cry because it hurts soo bad. is there some type of sugery?? please help me.

if you have any questions to ask me ask them and i will edit my question. please keep looking back to see my anwser to you question.

Did you actually have an MRI done? It sounds like when I tore the meniscus of my knee. I couldn't even drive long distances b/c it hurt so bad. I had arthroscopic surgery last Dec (06), and now that knee is better than the other one.

If your doctor has not helped the problem, perhaps it is time to try a different one. Doctors actually DON'T know everything, despite how some of them try to tell them they do. ASK QUESTIONS when you go to the doctor. Like "I was religious about doing the exercises but I still hurt. What is the next step?" Remember, they work for YOU, you are paying them. Educate yourself about your symptoms (the internet is great for this) and work with your doctor. If he won't work with you, change doctors. Insurance has to pay for a second opinion BY LAW.
