Who long does it take for?!


Question: a painkiller (otc) to begin to work?

I'm asking bc i am a stupid cluts and since i hurt my right ankle yet again (*oh joy* -sarcastically-) it hurts when i walk, or go from resting, to even standing. I am determinend to get back on my treadmill within 24hr. I plan on taking IB Profen about 30 minutes before i begin. WIll the IB Profen start to work by then so i can actaully get passed 20 mintues on it without having to stop??

Please do not tell me go to a doctor, they'll tell me to ice it, put it up, and wrap the s.o.b. i have been hurting the same ankle since i was 7, and that will be ten 11yrs soon...i know the routine, and i am convinced that since i "baby" it all the time, thats why it is so weak, and is easily hurt. I'll put slighlty more weight on it than it wants, while i "pivot" on that foot, and im stuck babying it for one to two weeks minumum.

Also, any ideas how i can possibly avoid hurting it so i can streanghten it??

OTC pain killers won't do much but help a little.And by 30 min to 1 Hr they should be working.The pain is going to be there until it heals.If its been past 72 hrs....since you injured it hot soak,hot wrap with ben-gay or the like will help loosen it up....or it does for me....good luck..Do your stretches if you can.Wear a air brace or support.You should really get it looked at and not exercise so much so quickly.

Try wearing an ankle brace, the soft kind that you can get at walmart. THat will give your ankle some extra support. Anytime you do activity like running after your ankle is healed, or feels better you should wear the brace. It will support your ankle and help you not sprain it... I wouldn't exercise right now on a treadmill, that will just aggrivate your ankle. Give it a couple days rest.

maybe you need some more definitive care of this ankle prob Maybe have doctor order some PT so you can learn which exercises to do and how much You could makeit worse you know by stressing it when it is too weak You decide
