Still sleepy the next morning after taking ambien??help?!


Question: my doctor put me on ambien yesterday 10 mg and i took it at 9pm and woke up at 9am. so that should be enough sleep before this i didnt sleep for about 3 or 4 days at ALL i am still sleepy even with the sleep i had last night- whats up with that?
is it a side affect ? its 3 hrs since ive been up!?!

If 10 mg is too much you could try 5 mg. That's usually enough. Split a pill in half if you only have 10 mg tablets. However, frankly I'd recommend avoiding Ambien. I used to take it and I didn't have trouble at first, but as time went on I started doing odd things in the middle of the night which I sometimes didn't remember the next morning. If you start to have any side effects you'll be much better off without it.

Then again, you may still be tired from the cumulative effect of being sleep-deprived for that long. Another night or two of sleep should help.
