I can't sleep.?!

Question: Ever since I can remember, since about 12 years old, I can not get a good nights sleep. I am 22 years old now and am starting to see noticable signs of sleep deprivation. I yawn all day, have bags under my eyes and find myself trying to get sleep whenever possible. When I do sleep I am always tossing and turning every 45 minutes. All night long it is a battle trying to get comfortable. I have slept in many different style beds, so that isn't the problem. On an average I turn over 15-20 times a night. I am physically fit and my diet is healthy, not a lot of sugars or caffine at night. I get up and go to class at 8 in the morning. At around 3 in the afternoon, I am so tired that I come home exhausted and tired. Because I didn't sleep the night before I automatically just hit the bed. Still when I take these naps I find myself tossing and turning. Can anyone suggest something? I have tried everything from calcium to nightquil. Nothing works. What can I do to sleep long like everyone else?

Have a read of the following article

Ambien

Get a guided meditation cd and do what it says or get sleeping medicine

Maybe you should visit your doctor and ask him about some sleeping pills like Syraquil (don't know if it's spelled right) or something else. You can try to take a nice bath w/ Lavender bubble bath that will help, also hot tea will help you relax and sleep. I would suggest turning out all the lights and just laying in the dark and eventually you will go to sleep.

I have found that the best sleep aid is Melatonin. You can buy it over-the-counter, it's cheap, and it WORKS.

By some weird reason, if Melatonin doesn't work for you, you need to go to the doctor. There are different types of medication your doctor can give you. I myself have been prescribed Ambien (didn't work for me at all) and Lunesta (worked a little bit), but these drugs are very expensive.

There's also chance your doctor could prescribe benzos for you instead (such as Klonopin), but those are usually more for anxiety than for insomnia. Trazodone is another drug used for insomnia -- technically, it's an antidepressant, but it's been found to help people sleep better (I've had this too, and it works well but takes awhile before it "kicks in").

I've suffered with sleep problems for years, as a result of working night jobs and whatnot. Best to you -- I know what you're going through.

Get a better bed, if you can afford it.
Relax, just relax
make the room you sleep in darker.

If you keep taking those nap's your body's going to adjust to them and not sleeping at night. Cut the naps out, which will make for a rough afternoon, but that night you should be able to sleep better.

Also, if you exercise at night you should find a different time. When you exercise your body mumps more testosterone, adrenaline, and respires more. The former 2 will keep you up and the latter will lead to more oxygen intake, which will make you more energized after a while.

Maybe u should learn some ways to overcome your insomnia problem through hypnosis at my profile.
