Driving while you are too tired?!

Question: Has anyone driven when they are tired? Sometimes I can't really judge and I am a stop light and close my eyes for a second and you don't realize that you are falling asleep. I think it is more dangerous the drunk driving almost (not that I have done that) but you can't really judge how tired you are. I have worked some long hours because I am starting in health care and am there at the crack of dawn and sometimes don't leave until 7pm. Some times I am fine but other times I will have to remember to drink something cafeinated. I don't feel tired during my shift it is after when I get a chance to sit down and then it sort of comes over me. Any advice?

yesi have nearly fallen asleep and its been nearly bad. i am retired now so thak god. but i was nearly 50 miles from job a day. i had DPS stop me once and i told him was tired. and i nearly ran into someone doing 70 or so i didn't get ticket but he should have helped me go home i think i had it for nearly year i was tired its scary and i know what you are going through. its worse then drunk i think but you can put the radio on and talk to yourself drink coffee and hum to yourself and keep windowns down that doe shelp take care.

I hate to suggest this, but try some caffine pills or energy drinks. But, if you can, try to take a day off a week to catch up on your sleep, thats the best bet...:)

Hope this helps and stay safe driving...:)

they can penalize you for driving under the influence in that case,i recently heard that peppermint and cinnamon scents can keep you alert.take multi vites and ginseng

Yes, my husband is a trucker. First and most important...make sure you get plenty of sleep even if it means giving up other things. Second if you're starting to feel drowsy roll down your window, blast the radio, pull over and get out of the vehicle and walk around for a bit. It could end up saving your life.

Leave a window open a little bit if that don't help try singing.
Years ago I use to drive sometimes for more than 24 hours
straight. I had to sing and talk myself home on many a time.

Some of the suggestions are fine. Just be aware that your reaction time is slowed way down , and be safe. Try not to drive when you are that tired. It is not illegal, but you are impaired.

it isnt usually good to drive wile u r tired because ur senses and reflexes xlow down tremendously. i is usually better to drive earlier wen u r better rested call a cab to drive u home or depending on wear u r and wat time it is to waite til the next day like if u hav real long trips.

Well I'm happy to hear that you pull over when u feel that way.I wouldn't want anything to happen to you or anybody else.Maybe you can leave earlier by taking a shorter lunch. If not try to change your hours just for awhile so your body can get more rest.We never feel tired until we stop moving around.
